About me: Oscar Saavedra

My name is Oscar Saavedra, and I am originally from Mexicali, Mexico. I came to the United States to pursue a stronger engineering education and am currently studying Software Engineering at Chapman University with a minor in Business Administration. Growing up, my parents owned and managed businesses, which gave me early exposure to the importance of combining technical innovation with practical business knowledge. This background has shaped my mission: to excel in the tech industry by developing impactful software solutions while also understanding how technology drives business success.

 

At Chapman, I have strengthened my foundation in programming and systems through coursework in Data Structures and Algorithms, Java, Python, C++, Software Product Management, and Digital Integrated Circuits, while also gaining key insights from Financial and Managerial Accounting. My projects reflect both creativity and problem-solving: I have developed a Python-based AI Accounting Assistant that streamlines journal entry generation and ledger organization, built a custom blockchain ledger in C++ to simulate real-world blockchain mechanics, and designed an ADHD support game that uses interactive challenges to improve focus and pattern recognition.

Beyond academics, I am a recipient of the Hesperian Scholarship Award and an active leader on campus as a Founding Father and Social Chair of Sigma Chi fraternity and as Treasurer of Chapman’s Run Club. These roles have sharpened my organizational, leadership, and collaborative skills, qualities I carry into every project I take on.

My goal is to continue pushing myself to grow as both an engineer and a leader. I am committed to working hard, learning from every opportunity, and ultimately becoming the best software engineer I can be, contributing meaningfully to the industry while bringing innovation and efficiency to every challenge I take on.
